Introduction : Mechanical Engineering
Introduction of mechanical engineering means gaining of the knowledge about scope of study of different matters related to mechanical engineering and later their application in the field of research and development.
Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest branches of engineering and technology. It uses the principles of physics and mathematics and combines it with material science to design and develop the products to sustain at optimum uses. It is the branch of engineering that deals with the design, production and operation of tools, machines and plants.
The proud of India, engineer M. Visvesvaraya, was an engineer in the field of Civil engineering. Due to his great achievements and dedication, he is called the father of engineering. On the date of his birth anniversary, the engineering community across India celebrates “Engineers Day” on 15 September every year as a tribute to the greatest Indian Engineer, Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The core areas of studies of mechanical engineering field are Mechanics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Material science, Electrical science. In recent developments of advanced technologies, mechanical engineers use Computer Aided Design ( CAD ) and Computer Aided Manufacturing ( CAM ) processes and Robotics.
The essence of engineering is the problem solving. Mechanical engineering combines creativity, knowledge and analytical tools to complete the difficult task of shaping an idea into reality. It is one of the broadest engineering disciplines dealing with research, design, development, manufacture and testing of the mechanical systems.
